DISCOVER SOUTH TYROL BY BIKE, BUS AND RAIL
Lots of sun, beautiful landscapes and an extended network of cycle paths: discovering South Tyrol by bike is definitely a tempting experience. Those touring South Tyrol by public means of transport will find numerous bike rentals in and around our train stations. To experience South Tyrol at a slow pace use our special ticket bikemobil Card.
bikemobil Card: one ticket for all means of transport
Travel around South Tyrol with public means of transport and rent a bike with just one ticket: that's our bikemobil Card.
How it works:
The bikemobil Card allows you to make full use of South Tyrol's Integrated Public Transport network on one, three or seven consecutive days. The public transport network includes:
• regional train services in South Tyrol: from Brennero to Trento and from Malles to San Candido
• local bus services (urban, extra-urban and citybus services)
• Renon, Maranza, San Genesio, Meltina and Verano ropeways
• Renon tram and Mendola funicular
• the PostAuto Schweiz bus service between Malles and the bicycle rental in Tschierv (Val Müstair, CH).
In addition, on one day of your choice during the validity period of your bikemobil Card you may rent a bike in one of the railway stations’ bike rentals or in various further rental points dislocated throughout the territory and carrying the "Bici Alto Adige" logo.
In every bike rental participating in the initiative it is possible to rent and return bikes. Feel free to return your bike at a rental point differing from that of departure.
- bikemobil Card 1 day: 24 €
- bikemobil Card 3 days: 30 €
- bikemobil Card 7 days: 34 €
Kids under 14 pay half-price. Children up to 6 years do not pay for using public transport.
Several of our rental points are equipped with electric bicycles as well. To make a different experience, rent an e-bike instead of a traditional cycle with your bikemobil Card (additional charge).
Accessories like cycle helmets, children’s seats or bicycle trailers are available in the rental points (fees according to price list on site).
The bikemobil Card is available at public transport ticket offices, tourist offices and the participating bike rentals, but not at ticket vending machines. For a list of selling points see also www.mobilcard.info.

Carrying your own bicycle on trains
To carry your own bike on trains in South Tyrol you need an additional ticket. Please mind that regional trains are equipped for the transport of 15 - 18 bicycles only.
If the on-board bike capacity is fully occupied, boarding with bicycles may be interdicted.
In the period May / end of October, in the train stations of Merano, Marlengo and Lagundo, boarding the Val Venosta train with bicycles is not allowed in the hours 8:00 - 13:00 and 15:00 - 17:30.
At Merano train station, you can load your bike on a truck offering transport service for bicycles until Malles. The bike can be picked up in one of the train station bike rentals - at one's own choice in Naturno, Laces, Silandro, Spondigna or Malles. For further information call +39 0474 913450.
Some expert advise
1. Drink plenty of liquids
Sports activities cause the human body to lose lots of fluids. At times, fluid loss may not even be apparent. Make sure your water bottle is always full and don’t forget to drink regularly. Diluted fruit juices are recommended. If you wish to stop for a while, don’t miss one of the cosy bars along the cycling route.
2. Always wear a helmet
You would be mistaken to believe that helmets are only worn by children and mountain bikers. All cyclists should wear helmets. Not only will it protect you if you fall, but it will also provide protection from the sun and rain. Never leave home without your helmet!
3. Wear the right clothes
Not all cyclists own cycle suits. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
You should wear shorts, a comfortable T-shirt, tennis shoes and sunglasses. You should also have a wind cheater and a light raincoat, which should fit comfortably in your rucksack.
